Highlights from Louisville’s last trip to the Final Four in 2005. The Cardinals, also seeded 4th that year, defeated top-seeded Washington and then put together a thrilling comeback against 7th-seeded West Virginia in the Regional Final in Albuquerque before falling to No. 1 Illinois in the national semis.

Thanks to the always-entertaining for alerting us here to this dunk: LaSalle’s Ramon Galloway throws down Vince-Carter style on a breakaway in the Explorers’ loss to Minnesota. The best dunk of the NIT so far. I love Dave Sims’ reaction: “Ohhh….NO!!!” That’s the ancestor of the ever-popular, “Oh No He DI–IIN’T!!!”

Just in case you needed to see it. The Ohio Bobcats stormed into Chapel Hill in 2002 and punched North Carolina in the mouth, behind a powerful performance by stud forward Brandon Hunter. A little basketball nostalgia for the folks in Athens on the eve of arguably the biggest game in program history. So yeah…it is possible. And here’s the proof:

We’re celebrating St. Bonaventure’s return to the NCAA Tournament by going back in time to the last time the Bonnies cracked the Big Dance. St. Bonaventure almost took out Kentucky in a classic double-ovetime tournament game in Cleveland. Kentucky’s Tayshaun Prince hits a three at the end of regulation to send the game into OT. St. Bonaventure fans should remember Messiah Capers, who almost led the Bonnies to a huge upset. Enjoy, Bonnies fans.

This remains one of the indelible moments of Championship Week, and part of the reason why college basketball junkies like us at Roundball Daily love it so much. Lamar Odom hits the game-winning three as time expires and Rhode Island advances to the 1999 NCAA Tournament. Rams fans can reminisce on the days when Rhode Island was relevant as an NCAA power, before Jim “The Gambler” Harrick left for Georgia and more NCAA violations. This is the greatest moment in Rhode Island basketball history, and one of the greatest moments in the history of Championship Week. Enjoy, Rhodies.
